The crushed inlay ring design is a very popular one. Most of the tutorials require a lathe but with a bit of elbow grease, you can make one without the equipment.

I am not sure what brand of cyanoacrylate (similar to super glue) he used but I highly recommend Starbond glue which is an excellent cyanoacrylate glue.
