Watch This Artist Create Beautiful Decoupage Art on Glass Bowls and Vases

Posted in

Decoupage is an ancient art form. It is thought to have originated in East Siberian nomadic tribal tombs which were decorated with cut felt pieces. The practice travelled to China where paper pieces was used to decorate all sorts of objects. Trade links with Venice eventually brought the craft to Europe where it gained popularity in the 17th and 18th century.
Watch this talented Scandinavian artist, Viveca Moller,  create beautiful decoupage art on glass bowls and vases. It takes many layers of paper and varnish for each piece.  She works entirely on the outside of the bowls leaving the interior glass alone. This means the bowls are still functional as receptacles except the whole thing cannot be immersed in water.

She has a wonderful eye for color and patterns. Viveca is so inspiring. Consider decorating shallow jewelry glass dishes with this technique! Maybe a fruit bowl or two?

Here is a video which shows Viveca’s wonderful face collection of art decoupage work on vases.
