Winsor Bishop announces refurb plans with £2m sale

Posted in

Norwich-based jewellers, Winsor Bishop, has announced the biggest refurbishment in its 187-year history, with plans to open-up access to the Norwich store’s first floor and create further retail space, subject to landlord’s consent.

Much of the work will focus on bringing the plumbing and electrics up to date, and there is a restoration programme planned to preserve the late Victorian and Edwardian furniture on the store’s ground floor.

The planned renovations and redecoration will start in early February. It will last for approximately six months and Winsor Bishop will remain open for the duration of the refurbishment.

To celebrate the refurbishment, the store will host the “largest sale in Winsor Bishop’s almost 200-year history”, with over £2m worth of jewellery available.

There will be a large range of high-spec gold, gemstone and diamond jewellery available for sale, with pieces including diamond rings, gold and silver jewellery, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, coloured stone jewellery, pearls, and branded jewellery pieces.

The building on Norwich’s London Street is a Grade II listed Georgian shop, and the refurbishment is being carried out in conjunction with advice from the restoration officer at Norwich City Council.

A detailed Heritage Statement is also being drawn up in consultation with a local architecture practice.

Donna Balls, store manager of Winsor Bishop, said: “We are incredibly excited about our imminent refurb. The store will remain open throughout the exciting transformation, and we look forward to welcoming customers to our beautiful new-look store later this year, where we’ll be offering the same fabulous service and high-class jewellery.

“We are delighted to see customers returning to us year after year and we’re fortunate enough to welcome generations of clients to experience our dedicated service. This unique sale is a wonderful way to say thank you to customers old and new.”
